The Difference a Prep Day Makes

Visitors to a finished room see color. What they are actually seeing is preparation. A razor sharp line where the wall meets the trim, a corner that reads clean from ten feet away, a finish with no orange peel under the light of an afternoon. None of that happens at the brush. It happens before it.

Our prep follows a fixed sequence, because skipping a step always shows up later. Furniture is protected like it was our own. Surfaces are washed, sanded, and repaired. Gaps are caulked. Edges are taped and cut by hand, not rushed. Only when a room would pass inspection with no paint on it at all do we open a can.

This is also where the two kinds of painters separate. A hurried crew paints over dust and nail holes and calls it done. The wall looks acceptable for a season, then the imperfections return like shadows in the evening light. We would rather walk away from a job than hand over a finish we know will not last.
